THE SCHOOL

Set in the foothills of the Dhaula Dhar Ranges of the Himalayan Mountains and at the altitude of 7,000 feet, Dalhousie is one of the most charming hill resorts in India. Originally founded by the British Army as a retreat for soldiers, it has now grown into a small self - sufficient student township, where in its serene surroundings and crystalline air, young minds flourish. Dalhousie Public School, Dalhousie founded in 1970, is a residential co-educational school. It comprises of 1200 students, ranging from age 4(Kindergarten) to age 16(tenth grade), of which 1000 are boarders and the rest day scholars. The teaching staff consists of approximately 65 trained teachers most of whom live on campus. Both students and teachers are selected from different parts of India and also from other parts of the world thus providing an atmosphere of cultural diversity.

Head of the School:

Mrs. C.K. Dhillon, the Founder member & Chairperson of the school, established Dalhousie Public School, Dalhousie in 1970. The Director-Principal joined the school in 1987 after taking premature retirement from the army. Dr. (Capt.) G.S. Dhillon has done his Masters in English and is a M.A., PhD. in Philosophy. While in the army he served with 2 PARA SPECIAL FORCES. After his release from the army and a brief stint at Harvard University USA, where he studied Philosophy & International Relations, he took charge as the Director-Principal of DPS, Dalhousie.

IT'S Aim

In imparting education, the School aims to guide the students through a system beyond pure academic achievement into development of the total personality. The focal point in this development process is the inculcation of attitudes that lead the child to unfold naturally into a well balanced individual who will effectively meet the challenges of the world, as well as contribute responsibly to global growth.

It is believed that the environment provided by the cultural and religious diversity, which is a policy of the School furnishes an important factor in fostering unification and brotherhood.
